Rwanda-Russia Nuclear Agreement Opens Potential for Medical Technology Cooperation
On 31 October 2026, Rwanda and Russia’s Rosatom signed an agreement covering a planned Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology, with cooperation extending to medical applications such as cancer treatment technologies. The agreement also covers nuclear-science training and a proposed small modular reactor, but no confirmed project cost or separate healthcare allocation has been published. Hospitals, diagnostic providers and medical research institutions can explore advanced imaging, research-data systems and healthcare technology; HPC can support medical data analytics and demanding research workloads, with quotations available for confirmed projects.
